Coconut chutney is a southern Indian side dish and condiment. It’s delicious and healthy. Usually, it serves with idly, dosa, upma, and other south Indian dishes.

INGREDIENTS :
- 1 cup fresh or frozen coconut
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 Tbsp roasted peanuts
- 1 Tsp tamarind powder
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 3 to 4 green chili’s
- 1 Tbsp chopped ginger
- salt to taste
- 2 Tbsp oil for tempering
- 4 to 5 curry leaves
- 1 Tsp musted seeds
- 2 dry red chili’s
STEPS TO FOLLOW :
Step 1: In a grinder grind coconut, yogurt, peanuts, tamarind powder, cilantro, sugar, green chills, and ginger. Make sure to grind them at low speed till it becomes smooth. add water if necessary.
Step 2: Now take the chutney in a bowl. Heat oil then carefully add mustard seeds, red chilies, and curry leaves. pour this tempering over the chutney. Serve this chutney with your favorite south Indian food, paratha, or with lemon rice.
Tips:
- you can store the chutney in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
- I used frozen coconut for this recipe. Just thaw it for a couple of hours.
