Dosa!!
Dosa is my all time favorite comfort food that i can have any time of the day. Dosa originating from south india , made from a fermented batter. It is some what similar to a crepe in appearance. Its main ingredients are rice and black gram, ground together in a fine, smooth batter with a dash of salt. Here is my easy recipe for dosa batter to make perfect dosa.
Equipment
- Instant Pot
Ingredients
- 3 and 1/2 cups Uncooked rice
- 1 cup urad dal ( black gram)
- 1/4 cup poha (flattened rice)
- 1 tbsp dry methi seeds (fenugreek seeds)
- salt to taste
Instructions
- First, wash rice and urad dal and soak them separately with enough water. Add methi seeds in rice. Let them soak for at least 8 hour or over night.
- After soaking 8 hours passed, drain the water from dal and rice. First, transfer the rice to the blender and grind into a smooth paste. add 1/2 cup water while its blending.
- Now add drained dal in the blender along with 1/4 cup poha with little water. Blend into a smooth paste and add it to a rice batter. Mix everything well and close instant pot lid and trun on yogurt setting. Increase the time to 12 hours.
- After 12 hours once your batter is ready then add salt and add little water if required. The consistency of the batter shouldn’t be runny. Make dosa from this batter using oil, ghee, or butter.
Notes
- You can keep this batter in the refrigerator for 7 days.
- you can make uttapam out of this batter too.
